Western Engineering Competition (WEC)

Skilled individuals which qualify in the University of Alberta Engineering Competition (UAEC) 2016 will be funded to represent the UofA at the next level of competition and go head to head with other WESST schools. Check out the different competition categories on our events page.

Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC)

The most innovative and creative engineering undergraduate students from across the national level of competition consisting of the top representatives from regionals. Click here to find out where CEC 2017 will be held.

Conference on Diversity in Engineering (CDE)

This annual event, previously the National Conference on Women in Engineering (NCWIE), is an opportunity for discussion and collaboration between engineering students and professionals around the theme of diversity in engineering. This year it is hosted by McGill University in Montreal from November 18th-20th, 2016. All students enrolled in the engineering undergraduate program, including first years, are encouraged to apply so stay tuned for the application form though EnggLink. For more information visit

Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES) Congress

For the first week of January 2nd-6th, 2017, representatives from all across Canada gather to attend the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students Congress. Delegates participate in seminars, presentation, round table discussions and attend the CFES general meeting. Each university is allowed to send six delegates who will be picked by the Engineering Students’ Society. Hosted by the University of Windsor Ontario. Visit the CFES website for more information.

Western Engineering Students’ Societies Team (WESST) Annual General Meeting and Retreat (ARMR)

Held on October 6th-9th, 2016 at the University of Manitoba. The WESST Retreat serves as both the general meeting for the Western Engineering Students’ Societies Team, and a team building and networking opportunity for engineering students from across western Canada. Each University is allowed to send five delegates, who will be picked by the Engineering Students’ Society. The personal costs of this trip are minimal for participants. Check out the official website
