President Nominees

Hi there! I’m Raf, a 2nd year Electrical Engineering Student. I’ve been active in the Engineering community since starting at the UofA. I was the First Year President, and am one of the current Co-VP Operations & Finance.

Through these positions I’ve gained some valuable leadership experience, represented the ESS at a multitude of conferences, and pushed for new initiatives; such as the GEER Store renovations, and the First Year Retreat.

As your 2018/19 President, I will push for:

  •       A streamlined society. One that isn’t held back by bureaucracy and deadweight.
  •       Closer ties & better support for the Discipline Clubs, Project Groups, & Other Engineering Groups.
  •       A focus on improving all of our existing recently-introduced initiatives, events, & services.
  •       Stronger student engagement & consultation. A society where student opinion matters and has an impact.
  •       A more transparent & inclusive environment. Where traditions of old are reinvented so that everyone can enjoy what we have to offer.

The ESS has seen so much success in recent years, and with the right leadership, I believe we can continue that success for years to come.

RAFAEL RIGON,

VP Internal Nominees

Hi everyone! As all of you may already know, we are running to be your next ESS VP Internal!

Why, you might ask? Well, we strive under stress, and we want that 4.0 GPA, so we thought this would be the best way to achieve our goals. Just kidding! We wanted to challenge ourselves and step out of our comfort zones. Both of us enjoyed volunteering with ESS in the previous years and we wanted a bigger commitment with ESS.  We would be lying if we said this position does not include lots of commitment and responsibility, but we believe that this unique (and eventually stressful) university experience will help us learn lots about ourselves and really test our limits.

We do strongly believe that we can do good work with the Internal portfolio, as we would like to better appreciate and recognize the efforts of the ESS volunteers. We love fun and food (let’s be honest here, who doesn’t?!), so we will try our very best to make sure that volunteers can have lots of those, and other perks, of course, while they contribute their time and energy to the ESS.

Just like Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs, we solemnly swear that we are up to no good.

Come on out and vote for us nerds on October 4th and 5th!
