Pi Throw

Since 2002, the Engineering Students Society has held the Annual Pi Throw charity event. What is Pi Throw, you may ask? For a week in March, you will be able to donate ten dollars to a local charity. In return for your donation, we will deliver a pie to the victi… err, participant of your choice, anywhere within the Edmonton downtown/campus area.
The recipient then has four options:
- Take the pie in the face for FREE!
- Buy a real pie for $π³ (about $31).
- Redirect the pie to the person who first sent it to you or to a third party for $10.
- Choose not to participate as Pi Throw is a voluntary charity event.
This event is run in conjunction with various Engineering schools all across Canada, and is a great way to help out your community and have fun at the same time. To date, over $5000 has been raised for Habitat for Humanity.
Pi Throw 2011!
Pi Throw 2012 is fast approaching! Pi week starts March 12 and runs until March 16 so pies will be delivered during this time. Pies will be sold in the ETLC atrium from March 7 – 9 and on March 12 and 13. Pies can be sent to your victim(s) of choice for a cost of $10. Real pies will be on sale for $π³ (about $31) and will be delivered throughout the week. Keep an eye out for posters and engglink for more information regarding the event! If you are interested in volunteering for the event please send an email to pithrow@ess.ualberta.ca for more information on how to get involved.
