Conferences

The Engineering Students’ Society is involved in sending students to a number of engineering conferences and competitions throughout Canada. If you interested in learning about attending one of these conferences, please contact the VP External Relations.

Canadian Federation of Engineering Students Congress

For the first week of January, representatives from all across Canada gather to attend the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students Congress. Delegates participate in seminars, presentation, round table discussions and attend the CFES general meeting. Each university is allowed to send six delegates who will be picked by the Engineering Students’ Society.

Visit the CFES website more information.

After each Congress the UofA Head Delegate is responsible for a report and presentation to the ESS Board of Directors without due delay.

WESST Retreat

Generally held in the Rockies at the beginning of November, the WESST Retreat serves as both the general meeting for the Western Engineering Student Societies Team, and a team building and networking opportunity for engineering students from across western Canada. Each University is allowed to send five delegates, who will be picked by the Engineering Students’ Society. The personal costs of this trip are minimal for participants.

WESST Olympics

At the end of the first month back, engineering students from all over western Canada come together to have fun for a few days at the Western Engineering Student Societies Team Olympics. Teams of four are submitted, and observers are welcome to attend. For more information about attending WESST Olympics, contact the VP External Relations.
